Üçüncü Marine Money İstanbul Gemi Finansı Konferansı 4 Mayıs 2006 tarihinde Swisshotel - The Bosphorus’ta gerçekleştirildi. Bu yıl konferansa 81’i Türkiye dışından olmak üzere 211 delege katıldı. 24 yabancı banka ve 6 Türk bankası ile toplam 30 finans kurumu temsil edildi.

Third Annual Marine Money Istanbul Ship Finance conference took place on 4th May 2006 at the Swissotel - The Bosphorus. This year, the Conference had a total of 211 delegates and presenters, including 81 from outside Turkey. 30 financial institutions were represented which included 24 from abroad and 6 Turkish banks.

Marine antiques: amphorae......

Think of the middle section of ships’ hulls; they have a big round shape; an inverted round shape. If you put objects with flat bottoms on this round shape you lose space, however if you load it with objects of sharp bottoms you can fill up the bottom. The people that lived thousands of years ago, the master crafters of amphorae had considered this.

Eski Sovyetler Birliği’ndeki Çernobil nükleer santralinde gerçekleşen korkunç olaydan 20 yıl sonra hala nükleer gücün elektrik üretiminde kullanılması gerektiğine inananlar var. Tesisin iki “RBMK” reaktörlerinden birinde çok düşük güçte gerçekleştirilen deney, 40 ile 50 personel ile acil durum işçisinin ölümüne neden oldu. Kaza sırasında yayılan radyasyon geniş çaplı bir kirlenmeye yol açtı.

There are still beliefs that nuclear power must continue to be used to generate electricity, after 20 years of the terrible event at Chernobyl nuclear plant in the former Soviet Union. The experiment took place at very low power with one of the facility's two "RBMK" reactors caused between 40 and 50 staff and emergency workers’ death. The radiation released during the accident gave way to widespread contamination and radiation exposure.

Having a strategic geopolitical location , Turkey is considered as a a natural "energy bridge" between major oil producing areas in the Middle East and Caspian Sea regions on the one hand, and consumer markets in Europe on the other . While Port of Ceyhan is an important outlet both for current Iraqi oil exports as well as for potential future Caspian oil exports, Bosphorus and Gallipoli Straits serve as a major shipping "choke point" between the Black and Mediterranean Seas.

According to the yearly published Eastern European construction market report, which is used by companies for making strategic plans, Turkey is considered as the second largest market in construction. It is seen the most dynamic sector of the Turkish economy on international basis.

Türk denizcilik sektörünün itici gücünü oluşturan kalifiye personel, firmaların en önemli ihtiyacını ve en önemli sıkıntısını oluşturuyor. Personel sayısının azlığı, var olan personelin ise eğitim eksikliği, sektörün gündemini sürekli meşgul eden konular. Denizcilik firmalarının personel departmanları, bu sorunu minimuma indirmek için gerekli önlemleri alsa da konuya ilişkin genel bir iyileştirme yapılması herkes açısından önem taşıyor.

Qualified personnel, the driving force behind the Turkish maritime industry, also constitute the primary need and the primary problem of the companies. Shortage of qualified personnel and the training deficiencies of the existing personnel are matters that continuously occupy the agenda of the sector. Although the human resources departments of the maritime companies take the required measures to reduce this problem to a minimum, an overall improvement of the issue is important for everyone.

Şu an Akdeniz’de 3,000’er tonluk iki adet kuru yük gemisiyle çalışan ve Yunanistan’a sattığı geminin ardından aynı firmayla iki gemi kontratı daha yapan Onur Denizcilik, faaliyetlerine doludizgin devam ediyor.

Currently operating two 3,000 dwt dry cargo vessels in the Mediterranean, and having concluded another contract for two vessels with a Greek company to which it had sold a ship previously, Onur Shipping continues its activities at full throttle.

Mersin’de uzun yıllar denizcilik, acentelik ve kiralama ile ilgilenmiş, sonrasında da kendi filolarını oluşturup İstanbul’da armatörlük alanında deneyim kazanmış şirketlerin ortak projesi olan Soli Tersanesi’nin ortaklarından Sedat Başak ve Tersane Genel Müdürü Hayrettin Şahin büyüyen hedeflerini, devam eden projelerini ve söktörü bekleyen gelişmeleri anlattı.

Soli Shipyard is the joint project of companies that engaged in shipping, ship broking, and chartering businesses in Mersin for years and then formed their own fleet and gained experience as shipowner in Istanbul. We had a pleasant interview with Mr. Sedat Basak, one of the partners and Mr. Hayrettin Sahin, the General Manager of the yard, about their growing goals, ongoing projects and prospects for the industry.

“It is not that they wanted to participate in the tender and we didn’t allow them. We are an establishment subject to the Turkish Public Procurement Authority. We conduct procurements with the open tender procedure. Accordingly, anyone may participate in the tenders and the bidder offering the best bid value is awarded the contract. We have new tenders to be held.”

2010’a yaklaşırken yağlı tankerlerin işi zor // Old tankers to face difficulties by 2010-082

Transal Denizcilik; petrol ürünleri taşımacılığı yapmak amacıyla, kurulum fikri Altınbaş Grubu içinden doğan genç bir şirket. 6,000 ve 7,000 dwt’lik iki geminin ardından, hızlı bir büyüme kararıyla 3,200 dwt’lik 2 gemiyi daha yönetimine alan ve ikinci el gemi almak için araştırmalarına devam eden firma, gemi fiyatlarının oldukça yüksek olmasından dolayı tersanelerle iletişim kurarak, yeni gemiler inşa etmeye karar verdi. Bu doğrultuda da sırasıyla, Selah Tersanesi’nde 10,000 dwt, Gisan Tersanesi’nde 13,000 dwt ve yine Selah Teranesi’nde 13,000 dwt gemi siparişleri verildi.

Transal Shipping is a young company, whose idea of establishment with the objective to engage in transportation of oil products arose from within the Altinbas Group. Following one 6,000 and one 7,000 dwt vessels, the company included 2 more 3,200 dwt vessels under its management with a radical decision to grow rapidly and continues its researches to purchase a second hand vessel. Therefore its has contacted shipyards due to high vessel prices and decided to build new vessels. In line with that decision, orders have been given for a 10,000 dwt vessel at Selah Shipyard, a 13,000 dwt vessel at the Gisan Shipyard and a 13,000 dwt vessel again at the Selah.

Türk denizcilik sektörünün önde gelen armatör ailelerden olan Kaptanoğlu, yaklaşık 50 yıldır sektöre hizmet ediyor ve şu an 17,000 tonluk gemi ile çalışmalarını sürdürüyor.

Kaptanoğlu, one of the leading shipowner families in the Turkish maritime industry, has provided services to the sector for about 50 years and now continues its activities with a vessel of 17,000 dwt.

TERSANE // SHIPYARD

Sektörde devrim yapacağız // Revolution in the sector 090

Kocaeli Serbest Bölgesi’nde üretime başlayan Yay Tersanesi, Türkiye’de çok sık duymaya alışık olmadığımız mega yat ve yolcu gemisi imalatı hedefleriyle dikkat çekiyor. Uluslararası piyasada rekabetin sınırlarını zorlamayı planlayan tersanenin Genel Müdürü Cavit Ünlüsü ile hayata geçirmeyi düşündükleri projeleri konuştuk.

Having started its activities in the Kocaeli Free Zone, the Yay Shipyard attracts attention with its mega yacht and passenger ship building goals, which we are not so familiar in Turkey. We had a pleasant interview with Cavit Unlusu, the General Manager of the shipyard, who plans to force the limits of competition in the international market, about the projects they consider to realize.

Ülkemizde ve medyamızda yeni yeni yazılıp, duyulmaya başlayan dünyanın en önemli, en görkemli, en kapsamlı, en anlamlı, en heyecanlı spor ve de kültür olayı Türkiye için ayrı bir önem de taşıyor. Çünkü Deniz Ticaret Odası, Kaptan Yılmaz Dağcı'nın girişimi ile "Tall Ships" yarışlarının iki yıl sonra 51.sinin Türkiye'de yapılması için STI ile anlaşmayı başardı.

The world’s most important, most magnificent, most comprehensive, most meaningful, most exciting sports and culture event, which is just recently heard and covered by the media in our country, also has a different significance for Turkey. This is because the Chamber of Shipping has, through Captain Yılmaz Dağcı’s attempts, succeeded in concluding an agreement with STI to hold the 51st “Tall Ships” races in Turkey two years later.

Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’ün Samsun’a çıktığı Bandırma Vapuru restore edilip müze haline getirildikten sonra ziyaretçi akınına uğramaya devam ediyor. 19 Mayıs’ta sembolik olarak gemi ile Samsun’a çıkan Kahraman Sadıkoğlu, Samsun Belediye Başkanı’nın deyimiyle, şehirde hiç görülmemiş bir coşku ve kalabalık ile karşılandı.

Having been restored and converted into a museum, the historical Bandirma steamship, with which Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, founder of the Republic of Turkey, went to Samsun, continues to be rushed with visitors. Kahraman Sadikoglu, who went to Samsun with the ferry on the 19th of May as a symbol of the importance of that day, was welcomed with an “excitement and crowd never seen before”, as the Samsun Mayor said.
